21st Century Automotive Competition!

June 7 and 8, 2008

Join the first annual 21st Century Automotive Challenge Competition and help demonstrate how we can enjoy better personal transportation with less petroleum consumption and less impact on the environment. The competition, which is being organized by the Eastern Electric Vehicle Club, a chapter of the U. S. Electric Auto Association, will feature a number of events highlighting different approaches to energy-saving automotive transportation including:

The Tour-to-the-Shore:

A RALLY TO THE SCENIC JERSEY SHORE WITH POINTS FOR ACCURATE DRIVING AND GREATEST FUEL ECONOMY

In Three Divisions

1. Gasoline Cars, Trucks and SUVs.
2. Diesel and Biodiesel Vehicles
3. Gasoline-Electric Hybrids.

The results will show what is possible with the vehicles of today (and a light foot) and how the currently available technologies stack up against each other.

The Run to the River:

A SIMULATED COMMUTE FOR PLUG-IN HYBRID VEHICLES TO AND FROM THE DELAWARE

New this year: Thirty miles to “work” in the morning and back in the afternoon with recharging during the day. Minimum fuel consumption wins.
